Total night noise - 1st strategic noise map

Total Ln of the strategic noise map of Palma City Council. In 2008 Palma City Council drew up the first Strategic Noise Map. In 2015 this map was revised.

Ln or Lnight is defined as the night noise index, which is the noise index corresponding to sleep disturbance, expressed in decibels (dB) and defined as the A-weighted long-term average sound level defined in the ISO 1996-2: 1987 standard, determined over all the day periods of a year, according to Royal Decree 1513/2005 of the BOE 301 of 17/12/2005.

Purpose: The need to review and update the diagnosis of the acoustic situation of the municipality of Palma de Mallorca is due to the approach within the regulatory framework of the European Union (Directive 2002/49/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 25 June 2002, on the assessment and management of environmental noise), and its transposition into Spanish law (Law 37/2003, of 17 November, on Noise and Royal Decrees that develop it), through which the agglomerations are required to assess the noise and review the levels every 5 years, as well as to know the degree of protection of the environment and the health of the inhabitants against environmental noise

Description: Among the different existing calculation methods for the execution of the simulations, those recommended in the applicable legislation were used:

- Road traffic noise: French method, NMPB-Routes-96 (SETRACERTULCPC-CSTB), mentioned in the "Arreté du mai 1995 relatif au bruit des infrastructures routières, Journal officiel du 10 mai 1995, article 6" and in the French standard "XPS 31-133".

- Railway noise: The national calculation method of the Netherlands, published as 'Reken-en Meetvoorschrift Zailverkeerslawaai'96' ('Guidelines for the calculation and measurement of transport noise 1996"), by the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning, 20 November 1996.

For the execution of the simulations, it was decided to use the commercial software CadnaA developed by Datakustik, which allows to implement both methods and to execute all processes related to the elaboration of strategic noise maps.
